From the Stage to the City: A Different Kind of Hospitality

My story begins with movement — quite literally. Born in the UK and raised in Denmark after moving with my mother as a child, I was never someone who could sit still. That restlessness led me to the Royal Danish Ballet, where I trained and built an international career that took me across stages and cities for over a decade. Dance taught me a deep appreciation for precision, discipline, and the power of a truly exceptional experience — values I didn't know at the time I'd carry into an entirely different profession.

At 31, a serious injury brought my dancing life to an abrupt pause. During my recovery, I found myself helping friends — mostly expats from the US and Italy — rent out their Copenhagen apartments over the summer. I placed a small classified ad in a UK publication called Loot, not expecting much. The response surprised me. Copenhagen's hotels were expensive and impersonal, and longer-stay travellers were quietly searching for something different — a real address in a real neighbourhood, with the ease of a home rather than the transactional feel of a hotel. That modest experiment grew to more than 40 properties, built almost entirely on word of mouth.

Building Something That Lasts

Against expectations, I recovered fully and returned to the stage — closing out my dance career at 40 on my own terms. With that chapter complete, I committed fully to what Best Stay Copenhagen had quietly become: a trusted, personal alternative to traditional accommodation.

Today, I work with private clients, investors, and property developers across the city, curating a portfolio of apartments chosen for their location, their character, and their ability to give guests something a hotel simply can't — the feeling of actually living in Copenhagen. The neighbourhoods we work in each have their own distinct rhythm, and part of my job is matching the right guest to the right place.

What drives me is the same thing that drove me onto the stage: the belief that a truly exceptional experience doesn't happen by accident. It takes knowledge, attention, and someone willing to take personal responsibility for the outcome. At Best Stay Copenhagen, that someone is me.
